Far and Away reflection
In the film, and Irish man Mike Kelly helped Joseph and Shannon get a job and find a place to live, but they had to work for their money. I learned about the immigrant experience in America is that you have to work hard to earn your money and you aren't just granted luxury. Take for example in the movie Joseph and Shannon had to actually work long hours in a factory to receive money so they can travel and try to gain their own free land. I learned that in the Oklahoma land rush, people compete in a very competitive race to win your own acres of land and some people will do anything to win like kill, or fight the other person. Other people would also cheat by heading to the land before the actual race starts. Shannon's preconception about America was that the government would just grant free land to anyone who needs it, which is untrue, you had to work for it. Nevertheless, she was right about America being modern and having several of acres of free land.
